As we enter what we hope is going to be a year of far greater freedom for us all in 2021, it remains a worrying trend that many widows and widowers are losing their entire combined estate, consisting of theirs and their deceased spouses assets, to care fees. This INCLUDES the family home.
However, simply by structuring our Wills correctly during our lifetime, we can ensure that any widow or widower limits their exposure for care fees assessment solely to THEIR SHARE of the combined estate.
